After listening carefully to your dental goals, our dentists will explain your current state of oral health and will outline treatment options.

Our Services

Missing a tooth or teeth does more than just have an impact on your smile. It affects your overall health, as well. When you lose a tooth, the body naturally causes your jawbone to begin deteriorating. This jawbone atrophy causes your face to appear shrunken, which can leave you looking older than you are. Dental implants are the most effective solution for replacing the root of a lost tooth, stopping jawbone deterioration in the process. Implants also provide a stable foundation for a variety of aesthetic restorations such as dental crowns, bridges, and implant-supported dentures.

For patients missing a full arch of teeth, All-on-4 implants offer a number of benefits compared to traditional implants. To qualify for traditional implants, patients must have sufficient jaw bone density to support the titanium base of the implant. This may require a bone graft depending on the severity of the atrophy, which can extend the treatment timeline by three to six months. In contrast, all-on-4 implants can be performed on patients who lack enough jaw bone density to receive traditional implants. They can be placed in less time and can also slow and even halt the process of jawbone atrophy.

If your teeth have chips, cracks, discoloration, or asymmetry, porcelain veneers are an outstanding dental solution. These thin, translucent ceramic shells are made from medical-grade porcelain and cover the surface of the tooth to provide a dramatic cosmetic enhancement. These remarkable strong restorations can last 10 years or more with proper care. With today's state-of-the-art materials, veneers are virtually indistinguishable from natural teeth. Enhance your smile, feel more confident, and improve your life with porcelain veneers.

The goal of restorative dentistry is to diagnose, treat, and prevent oral health complications and disease, all while improving the overall functionality and structural integrity of your smile. Our dentists can provide number of dental services to address issues that affect your smile. Our practice uses high-quality materials for all of our restorations to ensure life-like and long-term results. If you have a number of oral issues that need to be addressed, our dental practice helps restore the health, function, comfort to your dental health so that you can achieve a healthy smile.

Cutting-Edge Technology

So that our dentists can provide the best care possible, we utilize a number of advanced technologies at our Austin, TX, dentistry.

Digital x-rays
Digital X-Rays

Digital dental x-rays have a number of advantages over traditional x-rays. First and foremost, digital x-rays use much less ionizing radiation to capture images. The two-dimensional images take less time to process and can be instantly enhanced, providing a level of detail not possible with conventional x-ray images. The reduced timetable of processing and enhanced clarity of images means the team at 38th Street Dental can quickly review your x-rays. This minimizes the time you have to spend in the dentist's chair, allowing you to get on with your day with a healthier and brighter smile.

CT Scan
CT Scanning

Dental cone beam computed tomography (CT) produces three dimensional images of your teeth, soft tissues, nerve pathways, and bone in a single scan. This allows our dentists to detect and diagnose any jaw disease, as well as a number of other issues that may be present with your teeth. Thanks to this incredible technology, our dentists can determine bone structure and tooth orientation so that we can provide you the best care for your personalized treatment plan.

Sedation Dentistry

If you experience dental anxiety or who have a difficult time sitting still while receiving the dental care you need, 38th Street Dental offers sedation dentistry to help you remain calm and comfortable during your visit to our Austin, TX, practice. Our dentists offer two types of sedation to help you relax while we provide your care.

Dental sedation

Nitrous Oxide

Nitrous oxide, also known as laughing gas, induces a state of light relaxation. Our Austin, TX, dentists administer this colorless gas by placing a mask over your nose. Nitrous oxide is easily controlled and the effects wear off quickly as soon as the nose mask is removed. Because this form of sedation is safe and easy to administer accurately, it is very effective for children. Nitrous oxide is the only form of sedation where you may be able to drive yourself home after receiving treatment. However, our dentists may still recommend you have someone drive you to and from your appointment, depending on your treatment.

Oral Conscious Sedation

For moderate sedation the dentists at our Austin, TX, practice can prescribe a conscious oral sedative. These medications have a calming effect, which reduces anxiety so you can feel relaxed while you receive the care you need to support your dental health. Depending on your level of anxiety, our dentists may prescribe you medication to take before your appointment, or even the night before. An oral sedative will likely make you feel drowsy, but you will remain awake during treatment. The effects last a bit longer than with inhaled sedatives, so you will need someone to drive you to and from your appointment.
