Before registering, please read about your first visit choices!

When you request your first appointment, you will be asked about your current condition. We offer two types of new patient appointments. If you are in good dental health with no broken or symptomatic teeth, you are welcome to appoint for a hygiene visit. Please remember that if you currently have gum disease, we will not prescribe a "cleaning" for you at this first visit, and that your current condition will be assessed prior to your "cleaning"

If you have any current condition, we would like to invite you to a consultation with the doctor so that we may thoroughly diagnose your condition and discuss all options for treatment. We will be happy to have you in for a hygiene visit at a later date. This will allow for adequate time to address all of your treatment concerns. Read more below about what occurs at each of the two types of appointments to help you better schedule for your needs.

Once scheduled, you will be asked to visit the patient registration page on our website and fill out your medical and dental history questionnaires. This will help your check-in be smooth and brief. The administrative staff will only need for you to sign and verify your information before you'll be ready to visit with doctors Meek and Tasch.

Your New Patient Appointment - What to Expect

After reviewing your medical and dental history, our clinical staff will gather some specific data about your oral health. The first step will be to take x-ray pictures. Four bitewing radiographs will act as "cavity detectors" and show us bone levels around your molars. In addition, x-ray pictures will be taken of any teeth that have had root canal treatments in the past. This is the most basic and conservative radiographic survey we can provide and is performed using Digital Radiographic equipment. We remain highly conscious of your concerns about ionizing radiation and work very hard to maintain a sensible balance between diagnostic needs and the possible long term effects of radiation. Should you present with more advanced disease, more comprehensive radiographic exams will be necessary. If you are in great shape, we will take the fewest number of x-ray pictures possible which will limit your radiation exposure and cost!
Next, our hygenists will gather data on the health of your gums and bone around your teeth. The comprehensive periodontal exam will measure the depth of the pocket between your teeth and gums. If no gum disease is detected through these measurements and time permits, you may have a regular teeth cleaning.

If gum disease is detected, your doctor will visit with you about how to care for your condition and a treatment appointment will be scheduled.

Please note, if active gum disease is detected, we will not be able to clean your teeth during your first visit.

Your Dental Exam - It's not just about cavities!
Drs. Meek and Tasch will spend time looking over your current condition. Their exam will consist of an extra-oral soft tissue exam for cancer screening, review of the function of your jaw joints, review of the current health of the gum tissue and bone, and yes, finally, a review of the teeth for fractures, cavities, and other issues that may affect you adversely. If any irregularities are found, a prescription of treatment will be made. Our offices utilizes an intra-oral camera to show patients problem areas and we have found that patients love being able to see the problems just like our doctors do.
Having your teeth cleaned - The Adult Prophylaxis
After it is determined that you do not have active gum disease, our hygenists will scale tartar from areas above the gum line and from between teeth. These deposits contribute to gum disease and removal is essential in preventing gingivitis. Next, the teeth are polished, flossed, and oral hygiene instructions are shared with the patient. We are often surprised at how helpful our staff's instruction on brushing and flossing can be for patients of all ages.
